The Times has written about the popularity of Maths as an A Level, whilst warning that many universities are cutting back their provision of courses in the subject.
Jon Keating, president of the society, said the A-level results showed that maths had a “promising future” and must be protected at university level. “Maths underpins today’s most exciting and urgent technological developments including AI, quantum computers and machine learning, as well as modelling the Covid-19 outbreak and the rollout of vaccinations,” he said. “None of these would be possible without mathematicians and this is why our campaign believes the subject must be protected for future generations of students”
