2025 Maths Week Parliamentary Expo

To mark Maths Week England, the Campaign for Mathematical Sciences brought the maths community together in Parliament yesterday to demonstrate the real-world value of the mathematical sciences.

Kindly hosted by CaMS supporter Ian Sollom MP, this year’s Expo showcased exciting examples of maths in action to Parliament, including robotics firm Oxford Dynamics, the Met Office, biopharma company GSK, and many more, demonstrating how maths is intrinsic to many of the cutting edge technologies which are driving innovation and economic growth.

The clear call from speakers was the need for a national strategy from Government for how to strengthen the maths ecosystem and grow the economy. MPs and Lords heard how investment in the mathematical sciences would bring outsized benefits to the country by serving as a major driver for innovation.

We were pleased to welcome our Parliamentary supporters to the room, as well as meet many new faces, highlighting the growing recognition of maths’ importance amongst policymakers. CaMS continues its work to build a wide coalition of supportive MPs to help our campaign make the case for maths in Westminster.

Thank you to our fantastic exhibitors and to all those who joined us!
