Lords raise the importance of mathematics in International Women's Day debate

A debate in the House of Lords to mark International Women's Day saw a number of peers mention the contribution of women to the mathematical sciences.

Many peers, including Viscount Stansgate whom CaMS briefed beforehand, raised the importance of gender equality in maths, and a number of prominent baronesses spoke to the need for further uptake of STEM by women.

As Viscount Stansgate noted, the involvement of women in maths is essential when maths underpins so many important technological discoveries today, including AI.
