Spring Statement 2022: Counting on the Chancellor

This year’s Spring Statement coincides with World Maths Day 2022. We believe that this is a timely opportunity to celebrate the huge contribution of the mathematical sciences to the UK economy and ensure that the UK retains its place as a world leader in the mathematical sciences.

We have written to the Chancellor on behalf of the Protect Pure Maths campaign, the London Mathematical Society, the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, The Council for the Mathematical Sciences, the Edinburgh Mathematical Society, the Royal Statistical Society and The OR Society to urge him to prioritise investment in the mathematical sciences.
